Partners In Ministry (PIM) Course

Becoming What God Intended [For Wives Only] (Concurrent)
LF400, 3 Credits
Mondays: 1.00 pm-3.00 pm

This is a course that looks at Scriptures to understand the need for us to become what God intended for us at creation.  It takes an in-depth look at what has gone wrong with the human race since the Fall. It then looks at what God has done to bring about what He intended for us – A New Creation in Christ.  The process of learning includes both head knowledge and heart involvement so that lessons learned can be integrated and lived out in the learner’s life.

(Concurrent courses are held both onsite and online simultaneously. Credit students who are Singapore residents can only take the course onsite. Audit students can choose either onsite or online.)

Margaret Chan, MABS, has been a staff with Cru Singapore since 1975, and ministered to high school and polytechnic students, and wives of executives.  Margaret is married to Chan Chong Hiok, the President of EAST; they have two adult sons, Joshua and Joel.

This class may be taken for free from tuition fees by audit students under the GLO@EAST promotion (S$40 registration fee payable). Registration deadline is Friday, 9 July 2021.

Sacred Parenting with EAST PIM

The EAST Partners in Ministry (PIM) program is designed for wives of seminary students, or whose husbands are ministers or in vocational Christian ministry. PIM seeks to develop wives as they grow in partnership with their husbands and in their own circle of influence.

The above photo is the PIM group who went through the fruitful 6-week course on “Sacred Parenting” with resources from Gary Thomas. The PIM ladies are so blessed by the biblically-based material and group interactions. They learnt how God uses the challenges and struggles in parenting as God’s spiritual formation curriculum to shape each parent to be more like the Heavenly Father.

As believers, there will never a time when our journey towards holiness is done–even or especially as parents. Gary Thomas said, “Parenting puts the spotlight on our weaknesses … We can choose to let sin tear apart our families, or we can use our families to tear apart our sin.”

Wives Of EAST Students Are Developed Too

“Seminaries are cemeteries for wives of students.”

That is how some wives of seminary students feel. While husbands are busy with studies, wives are left alone to care for young children at home. The wives’ development and marriage relationships are neglected. One consequence: graduates receive not only a degree but also a divorce certificate at the end.

At EAST, we do not want such a scenario to take place. We want our full-time students and their wives to thrive and grow.

Group TeamThe Partners In Ministry (PIM) program was developed out of a firm conviction that married couples called into vocational ministry would benefit tremendously when they share the same vision and serve alongside each other. We recognize the vital role and contribution that wives have in complementing their husbands’ ministries. We seek, therefore, to inspire and equip wives to embrace this calling. We also want to inspire husbands to fully support their wives in this pursuit. At the end of their studies, both husbands and wives can joyfully receive their certificates together. Read more
