Mentoring Groups Outreach 2022

Four Mentoring Groups (MGs) got together on the Wednesday morning right after Chinese New Year school break to pack 60 gift bags for the residents of two HDB blocks at Haig Road. The room was filled with excitement and joy as MG leaders and students of these MGs worked in unity preparing for an afternoon of outreach to the community near our school. February is the time of the year for our annual MG Outreach. All MGs at EAST would set aside time to plan and organize outreaches to “love our neighbours” (Mark 12:31). The purposes of MG Outreach are to help MG members take steps to identify felt needs and reach out to our neighbours near and far, and also to provide an opportunity for MG leaders to model and coach the students accordingly.

Starting 2022!

Our first week of the January 2022 semester was a welcome for our new students and a time of gathering as Mentoring Groups to start off this new season.

As a community, It was good to see each other again after the December holidays, and we appreciated getting to start the semester with intentional times for Mentoring Groups to gather. This is one way our new students get connected with everyone in the wider EAST community, and with the fellow students journeying alongside within the same Mentoring Groups. The EAST community is where we rally around each other in fellowship, prayer and encouragement.

We give thanks for our community in school and continue to walk with each other in the semester ahead.

First Corinthians Period Drama

At a recent Chapel Service, the Mentoring Group (MG) responsible for organizing the service acted out a period drama on 1 Corinthians to convey the inherent gospel message of body life and unity. Watch a snippet below:

The MG is helmed by two faculty who individually teaches Expository Preaching (Mr Jacob Li) and Exposition of Romans (Dr Andrew Spurgeon) this past semester. Praise God for the meaningful Bible lesson taught in a refreshing way.
