Why is Good Friday… good?

Why is Good Friday considered “good”?
        For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; “for by His wounds you were healed.” For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Christ Has Risen – Death Has No Sting!

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, NIV)

“He is not here; he has risen! … The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.” (Luke 24:6-7, NIV)

“Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?
