Wednesdays, 9.00 am-11.00 am

Building on a foundation of Bible study, in this course you will learn how to assess the audience, develop a lesson plan, and facilitate an engaging learning process.

Pre-requisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.

Audit students are to complete the asynchronous portions of each week’s lesson so that they can participate in class discussions.

Jeannette Shubert, DMin / PhD Candidate, holds advanced degrees from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Dallas Theological Seminary, and is now a PhD candidate in Intercultural Education at Biola University. She has taught in Kenya, the USA, Russia, the Philippines, and at EAST since 2009. She enjoys helping students develop skill and confidence as they facilitate learning in formal and non-formal environments.

Christian Leadership Foundations (Day Course)

Thursdays, 1.30 pm-4.30 pm

Self-leadership and self-care; how to set boundaries and build margin; how to serve with your gifting, passion, personality, and life experience as a leader; what are ministry models of a shepherd, a steward, and a servant in leadership-these are topics this course will discuss, with application to your personal life and ministry.

Roland Tan, DMin, has been involved in spiritual leadership and teaching since joining Cru Singapore (formerly Singapore Campus Crusade for Christ) over 40 years ago. He and his wife, Ying Kheng, served as missionaries in the Philippines, Korea, and Hong Kong. For ten years, he led Cru Singapore as the national leader.

Theology of Missions (Day Course)

Theology of Missions (Online), IS540, 3 Credits

Theological foundations for the global mission of the church to help you unify and integrate a wide range of theological themes in and around the issues of mission. Issues that confront the contemporary missionary will be investigated.

Audit students must read all required readings to maximise the learning experience – textbooks and additional reading materials uploaded on Populi.

Raymond Song, PhD, served with Cru for 15 years in the USA and Japan (Tokyo and Osaka), and in pastoral ministry among Korean-American churches for 19 years. He and his wife, Justine Han, also served with the Distance Education program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (USA). Raymond and Justine are blessed with two adult children.

Contextualisation (Day Course)

Wednesdays, 9.00 am-11.00 am 

This course examines the process involved in the contextualisation of theology and ministry, identifying themes and methods appropriate for the Asian context. Using the framework of critical contextualisation, the class will examine the issues that arise in contextualising. Students will also develop strategies to contextualise meaningfully in their church and ministry. [Cross-listed with TS570].

Kevin Lowe, DMin, holds a Doctor of Ministry in Contextual Leadership and Cultural Anthropology from Asbury Theological Seminary. He has taught courses in several seminaries in Southeast Asia and served as a pastor and missionary for 16 years, the latter half as a tentmaker running several businesses. He believes in holistic missions, thus is passionate about marketplace and BAM related ministries etc, those that seek to empower. He is married with 3 children.

This course provides an effective and practical approach to equip you to build communities of Spirit-filled multipliers by following Jesus’ example and strategy.

Liong Kwok Wai, MDivhas been serving as a staff member of Cru Singapore since 1999.  He has ministered among campus students, church planters and community leaders in Singapore and East Asia.  He was also involved in training full-time Christian workers and leadership development.
