This course helps students discover and explore the various aspects of urban ministry in light of the rapid urbanization and globalization of the world, how the city shapes our lives as humans and as Christians, and how the church can plant churches and ministers in the city.

Helps students grow in their own biblical convictions and understanding of the Christian faith through a systematic study of theology. The course will examine the doctrines of humanity, sin, salvation, the church, and the end times. Prerequisites: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics, TS560 Worldview and Biblical Decision Making or IS520 Contextualisation.

Audit students are expected to watch assigned videos before each class.

Biblical Greek 2: Exegesis using Tools (Concurrent Day Course)

Biblical Greek 2: Exegesis using Tools (NT502, 3 Credits, Concurrent)
11 January – 10 May 2022, Tuesdays, 9.00 am-12.00 pm

Building on NT501, this course strengthens students’ knowledge and skills in applying the principles of Greek grammar, syntax, and semantics in New Testament exegesis. Students will become more competent in using Bible software and tools that utilise Greek to translate and analyse NT passages. They will also learn the steps of exegesis and apply them to exegete NT passages. Prerequisite: NT501 Biblical Greek 1: Elementary Greek.

Note: Students taking the class for credit will need to have access to or will need to purchase the Logos Bible Software (any version) with all the Greek resources required for the course. The software bundle is available for purchase by students and alumni and/or accessible for use at EAST library.

New Testament Epistles & Revelation (Onsite Day Course)

New Testament Epistles & Revelation (NT511, 3 Credits, Onsite)
11 January – 10 May 2022, Tuesdays, 1.30 pm-4.30 pm

A study of each New Testament epistle (Romans through Jude) and the book of Revelation in light of their political, cultural, historical, and literary contexts. Bible study skills learnt in the prerequisite course will be applied to selected passages. Passages that are considered challenging exegetically will also be discussed. Prerequisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.

Teaching and Learning 2 (Onsite Day Course)

Teaching and Learning 2 (LF531, 3 Credits, Onsite)
11 January – 10 May 2022, Wednesdays, 9.00 am-11.00 am

Encourages teachers, facilitators, and ministry trainers to integrate biblical perspectives and principles of teaching and learning as they seek to understand learners and communicate biblical truth in different contexts. The philosophy, process, and procedures of designing a formal or nonformal educational course are discussed and applied. Students develop one or more sessions and teach either in a nonformal or formal educational setting.

Prerequisites: LF530 Teaching and Learning 1. Occasional teaching labs for this course scheduled on Fridays, 9.00 am-11.00 am.

Audit students are expected to complete asynchronous lessons on Populi.
