A Life of Prayer: A Biblical Portrait & Spiritual Practices (Online)

Mondays, 7.00 pm-9.00 pm, 18 July – 18 November 2022

The course seeks to equip students with biblical understanding and spiritual practices for cultivating a life of prayer.  Students will examine models and teachings on prayer in Scripture so as to grow in deeper appreciation and awe of God and learn the role of prayer for the completion of His work and fulfilment of His will on earth.  They will also study both theoretical and practical dimensions of prayer and explore different spiritual practices related to prayer, enabling them to grow in intimacy with God, awareness of self, and formative ministry to others through prayer. “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” – Psalm 37:5, ESV

Is anyone of you anxious about your future? Trust the Lord to guide you and grant you the ability to do His will.  You need the strength of the Lord to accomplish His call. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s empowerment upon you and draw on God’s strength.

Praise God:

– That the graduands have braved through online, hybrid and unexpected changes in their learning journey to finish well.

Pray for

– The graduands to continue to have the zeal to learn, passion for lost soul and to build spiritual movements wherever that God sends them.

– All alumni will holistically be transformed by our Sovereign God, to go forth to make disciples of all nations. To be the salt and light wherever they go.

Christian Marriage – Partners in Ministry Online Course

Christian Marriage (Online) – For couples only
LF460, 1 Credit
Mondays, 2.30 pm-5.45 pm (12 September–7 November 2022, 7 sessions: 12, 26 Sep; 3, 10, 17, 31 Oct; 7 Nov)

Aims to build a thriving marriage by exploring important topics like understanding God’s design for marriage, communication and conflict resolution, power of forgiveness, impact of family background and upbringing, physical intimacy, and maintaining romance in marriage.  It offers assessments for marriage and practical skills in handling challenges unique to ministry couples.

Course is limited to Partners in Ministry program and visiting students. This class is for married couples only – husband and wife must register for and attend the class together. Read more

Alumni Taught Mental Health to EAST Faculty

 

It was a treat for EAST faculty to be taught by alumni Tan Fang Fang and Kelvin Ng on practical issues relating to mental and spiritual health at the Faculty Development Days in May 2022. It was a much needed workshop after two years of the pandemic which has taken a toll on the mental health of many. This applies to EAST faculty as well who had to adapt to profound changes almost overnight in their course content formulation, instructional design, mode of delivery, and mediated mentoring. Fang Fang and Kelvin, who are both serving at Frankel Estate Bethesda Church, facilitated the time by opening up opportunities for honest conversations through case studies on the mental and spiritual challenges that one faces. Principles and best practices gleaned from the Word and Christian counselling were also discussed and explored in the context of faculty.
