Our Spaces Spruced Up!

These are our spaces for fellowship, reading, conversations, rest and study, all spruced up and made ready for a new season at the EAST Mission Hub!

We appreciate the interior design input from our PIM faculty, Josephine Lam who has made these spaces much more vibrant for our community.

As we prepare for the new semester in January 2021, we look forward to start this new chapter at our new campus at 118 Joo Chiat Road. Thanks be to God for new beginnings!

In the Spirit of Giving Thanks

We are thankful to the Lord for leading us thus far, and for the privilege of being a part of His equipping of today’s Christian leaders and believers for the fulfillment of His Great Commission. It is also our privilege to witness how our students have been transformed during their time at EAST to become more effective in life and ministry.

We are also glad to be praying and walking together with you as we go through these seasons of challenges together with the Lord. You have been our friend, prayer partner, ministry partner, hand of support and beloved community in Christ in all these seasons over the years in the history of EAST.

Indeed, for all these and more we give thanks, and rejoice together in the Lord as we see His Word bearing fruit in the lives of many.

Our Library Renewed.

Many a student and alumnus have memories and thanksgivings of seasons spent in the EAST library. It becomes a second home to many during intense seasons of the semester.

We are thankful that the library is now under one roof with our classrooms and school office–much more convenient compared to the time when all three were at different locations.

With a fresh coat of paint and new furniture, the library stands ready to be a place of fruitful research and thought-wrestling with the Lord.

The Lord provide you with inspiration and encouragement, as He brings you wisdom and understanding in your learning journey at EAST.

Readying Our Classrooms Within

As we conclude this semester with the completion of our course exams and assignments, we transition into the year-end vacation and make preparations for the coming semester.

Speaking of preparations, we are in the midst of readying our new classrooms at our Joo Chiat campus. As seen in the picture above, these are brand-new classrooms for a new season at EAST.

Even as our physical classrooms are renewed, it is good to take this time to look into our hearts and make ready our ‘classrooms within’ for new seasons of learning. This is when we can come to the Lord and say, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties.” (Psalms 139:23 NKJV)

Yes, together with the Lord, we search within ourselves and process what we find with Him. This is one way we can work with God to ready our hearts for a new season of learning.

May your ‘classroom within’ indeed be renewed and refreshed by the Spirit of God as He journeys with you into your next semester.

Preaching Training in Progress

This is the first of 2 semesters of the Expository Preaching course, a training ground for our students to be developed in their preaching. The pictures above show a time of sermon presentation where each student delivers a prepared sermon to the class and receives a round of feedback from the course instructor and fellow classmates.

Learning happens when classmates contribute observations from new vantage points, and also when the class engages in constructive interaction that helps each learner internalize and even debate over learning points that deserve additional discussion. It helps that everyone in the class is committed to be a conducive learning community where feedback is constructively given and received.

After this semester of looking into developing and delivering biblical messages, the next semester of Expository Preaching will look into a range of different types and genres of sermons, and also cover the use of technology to enhance sermon delivery. Sermon presentations will continue, and each student will be exercising skills and competencies developed over the 2 semesters of the course.
