Teaching and Learning 2 (Day Course)
LF531 Teaching and Learning 2 (3 Credits)
Tuesdays: 2.00 pm-5.30 pm, 9 January to 5 May 2017
Christian leaders are often asked to teach both in both informal and formal educational contexts. This course, conducted in a workshop and discussion format, includes biblical perspectives, principles of teaching and learning, and practice in using creative classroom methods in various teaching settings. Pre-requisite: LF530 Teaching and Learning 1.
Jeannette Shubert, DMin/PhD Studies
Jeannette enjoys teaching this course as she has seen students develop skill and confidence as teachers. Since joining Cru in 1981, she served on the faculty at seminaries on three continents. While teaching at a seminary in the US she was nominated to and listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Jacob Li, ThM
Jacob is passionate about teaching God’s Word. He holds a Master of Continuing Education – Adult Learning from University of Calgary (Canada) and Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary (USA) with an emphasis on Bible Exposition. Jacob has taught the Bible at churches, para-church ministries and seminaries in Canada, USA and other parts of Asia. Jacob is committed to helping people study the Word of God as well as to live out their God-given potential. He and his wife, Josephine, have two young children.

World Missions (Day Course)
IS510 World Missions (2 Credits)
Wednesdays: 9.00 am-11.15 am, 9 January to 5 May 2017
This course introduces the exciting biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic perspectives of Christian world missions. Special emphasis is given to the expansion of Christianity, missionary methods used by key people, and lessons for today. Key subjects addressed in the course include how much of God’s global mission has been completed, how much is left to do, how it is being done, and what He wants to do through His people. Students will learn how to be meaningfully involved in missions and to help lead a missional church.
Song Tae Suk Raymond, PhD
Raymond Song served with Cru for 15 years in the USA and Japan (Tokyo and Osaka) where he served as a Campus Director and a Regional Director. He also has 19 years pastoral ministry experience in local church, preaching, teaching, and discipling emerging Asian-American English generation in Korean-American churches. He has earned his Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL, USA where he has been an instructor of Missions in the Distance Education program. He is married to Justine Han and they have two sons in university.

Theology 2 (Day Course)

What does the Bible teach about humanity, sin, salvation, the church, and end times? This course examines each of those doctrines. It is intended to help students grow in their own biblical convictions and understanding of the Christian faith through a systematic study of theology.
Lewis Winkler, PhD
Lewis joined Cru in 1987 and has taught in three seminaries in the USA and Asia. He enjoys interacting with students over basketball and casual discussion on how the Bible applies to life and issues today. He and his wife, Barbara, have three adult children.

Old Testament Narratives (Day Course)
OT510 Old Testament Narratives (3 Credits)
Tuesdays: 2.00 pm-5.30 pm, 9 January to 5 May 2017
The study of Genesis to Esther highlights that the God of the Old Testament is the same God we worship today. It has been said that “The New Testament is concealed in the Old, and the Old Testament is revealed in the New.” Many themes we find in the New Testament have their roots in the history of Israel. This study will help the student appreciate the unfolding drama of God’s redemptive plan for man. Each book advances God’s plan to raise up a chosen people and a holy nation. Pre-requisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.
Yee Chin Hong, PhD
Chin Hong received his PhD in Theological Studies (Old Testament concentration) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (USA). On staff with Cru Singapore, he used to serve among the campus students. He is excited about equipping others for Old Testament studies through the acquisition and use of Biblical Hebrew. He and his wife, Lishan, have two daughters.

New Testament Epistles and Revelation (Day Course)

An in-depth look at challenges the first century churches struggled with, such as false teachings and persecutions. We will gain insights into the Epistles and Revelation and learn how to apply them to our lives today. Pre-requisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.
Amy Lau, ThM
Amy Lau graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary, and has taught Bible and theological classes since 2002. She served on the pastoral team at St. John’s and St. Margaret’s Church before joining EAST as a full-time faculty. Amy is a creative teacher who challenges her students to interact with God’s Word critically.
