As a woman, would you like to learn how to live a life of significance? Taught in a coaching environment, the course is built on biblical principles to answer that question. No matter what season of life you are in, this class is designed to help you grow in your relationship with God, become aware of who God created you to be, discover and do what He has called you to do.

Sophie Lo, MA in Biblical Studies, has served with Cru in East Asia and Singapore since 1997. She has ministered among university students, faculties, young professionals and homemakers while in East Asia, and she continues to be involved in women’s ministry in Singapore.

Building on a foundation of Bible study, in this course you will learn how to assess the audience, develop a lesson plan, and facilitate an engaging learning process.

Pre-requisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.

Josephine Lam, MA, graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Biblical Studies. Josephine has enjoyed teaching people in different age groups—from young children to seniors—and from diverse ethnic background. She has led bible studies and workshops in churches, para-church ministries and seminaries in US, Canada and Asia.

Religious Movements in Asia (Day Course)

IS570 Religious Movements in Asia (3 credits)
Thursdays, 1.45 pm – 5.00 pm

This course examines the beliefs and practices of the major religions of Asia (Christianity included) as well as their “folk” expressions. The historical and national contexts and overall trends of these religions will be examined to achieve the goal of a deeper understanding of how our pluralistic Asian context impacts our identity and witness as Christians. This will also aid our ability to respect and live in harmony with people of other faiths and perspectives.

Song Tae Suk Raymond, PhD, served with Cru for 15 years in the USA and Japan (Tokyo and Osaka), and in pastoral ministry among Korean-American churches for 19 years.  He and his wife, Justine Han, also served with the Distance Education program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (USA).

Old Testament Poetry, Wisdom, and Prophets (Day Course)

OT511 Old Testament Poetry, Wisdom, and Prophets (3 credits)

Perhaps, like most believers, you are not familiar with the last half of the Old Testament. This class introduces the history, culture, style of writing, background and reasons for writing of the authors. It is an overview and introduction to the books in the Poetic & Wisdom genre, and the Prophetic genre.

Toe Set, ThM, enjoys helping people understand the Old Testament.  Over the years, he has taught various Old Testament books not only in Singapore but elsewhere in Asia to lay leaders, pastors, and full-time Christian workers.

What are God’s instruction for us today as leaders in ministry? Unreflective reliance on secular theories and techniques can be hazardous to us as leaders and to our people. This course helps participants to develop a solid theological foundation for thinking about practical issues of leadership for application to life and ministry.

 

Guy Saffold, EdD, the Executive Director Emeritus of the Association Canadian Theological Schools at Trinity Western University holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Seattle University (USA). He is an author and Associate Professor in theological studies and organizational leadership.
