Biblical Foundations 1 (Concurrent)

Focuses on foundational knowledge and synthetical understanding of the Old Testament including composition and authorship, authority and reliability, history, major themes, and the importance of the Old Testament in Christian living, ministry, and understanding of the New Testament.

(Concurrent courses are held both onsite and online simultaneously. Credit students who are Singapore residents can only take the course onsite. Audit students can choose either onsite or online.)

 

Napitchaya (Su) Panum, ThM, comes with ministry experiences of working with college students in Thailand and the USA. She received her ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary (USA). Su desires to use her training to equip students to actively engage in God’s word with both heart and mind.

Have you gone on a Holy Land tour in the past and would like to learn more about the places you visited? Or would you like to go some time in the future?  This course will help you better understand the biblical geography, history, and culture.

(Onsite classes meet at EAST campus on 118 Joo Chiat Road, Singapore 427407.)

Keith Shubert, PhD and Jeannette Shubert, DMin/PhD Studies

Keith lived in Israel for three years while completing a Master’s degree in Historical Geography of Ancient Israel. Many who have gone to Israel with Keith over the past 15 years have commented that his teaching at the biblical sites brings the Bible to life. His wife, Jeannette, co-leads the group. As a team they make this a memorable trip for all who have gone with them in the past.

Exposition of Revelation (Evening Course)

Exposition of Revelation (Concurrent)

Tuesdays, 7.00 pm-9.00 pm

An expositional (verse by verse) study of the book of Revelation examined in its theological context of future things.  Care will be given to ascertain the contribution of Revelation to the grand themes of Scripture.

(Concurrent courses are held both onsite and online simultaneously. Credit students who are Singapore residents can only take the course onsite. Audit students can choose either onsite or online.)

Audit students will need to complete each of the asynchronous Learning Tasks that are in preparation for each weekly session. That includes both the posting and response on Populi.

 

Keith Shubert, PhD, is a staff member of Cru for 45 years, has ministered in more than 30 countries, and served as resident or adjunct faculty for four seminaries in Asia and the USA. He lived in Israel for three years while completing a Master’s degree in Historical Geography of Ancient Israel.

Shepherd Care (Evening Course)

Shepherd Care (Online)

Mondays, 7.00 pm-9.00 pm

A class on self care and longevity in ministry for Christian shepherds, pastors, missionaries, lay leaders, and parents.  Basic theological truths of hospitality, biblical anthropology, the three biological seasons of adult life, and three sequential stages of Christian ministry will be discussed in class. (Online courses will have synchronous sessions held only online.)

Audit students will need to view the asynchronous recorded video lectures before each weekly session.

 

Casey Lok, DMin, is a staff of Cru Singapore since 1991. He has worked with campus students, missions mobilisation, and missionary care. He and his wife, Siew Leng, were missionaries to Japan for six years. His DMin is from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (USA). Both Casey and Siew Leng are blessed with four children, two of whom are now young adults and two teenagers.

 

Roy Tan, EdD Studies, is a staff of EAST since 2019. He has worked with the Navigators in Singapore for 21 years in their student and community ministry, as well as served in their national leadership team. Thereafter he served for 6 years as the pastor and later led the ministry for learning and development for 2 years. He graduated from Colorado Christian University with a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling. Roy and Bee Lay are blessed with two adult children; Ryan who married Eunice, and their daughter Gloria.

Partners In Ministry (PIM) Course

Becoming What God Intended [For Wives Only] (Concurrent)

Mondays: 1.00 pm-3.00 pm

This is a course that looks at Scriptures to understand the need for us to become what God intended for us at creation.  It takes an in-depth look at what has gone wrong with the human race since the Fall. It then looks at what God has done to bring about what He intended for us – A New Creation in Christ.  The process of learning includes both head knowledge and heart involvement so that lessons learned can be integrated and lived out in the learner’s life.

Margaret Chan, MABS, has been a staff with Cru Singapore since 1975, and ministered to high school and polytechnic students, and wives of executives.  Margaret is married to Chan Chong Hiok, the President of EAST; they have two adult sons, Joshua and Joel.
