Alumna Lydia Fong: Held to Heal Ministry
Lydia Fong graduated in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry. Since then, she has gotten married and given birth to two lovely boys, Moses and Zion. But along the way, she has experienced both a miscarriage and a stillbirth. Out of the depths of pain and sorrow of her loss, Lydia birthed the ministry “Held to Heal” to journey along with other mothers who have gone through similar experiences of miscarriage and stillbirth. The ministry was launched on 1 January 2024, the first anniversary of Lukas passing through a stillbirth. It was done in remembrance of Lukas and to help support other mothers who suffered loss. Read more of her story below.
“Held to Heal was born out of a desire to let others know that they are not alone, that we can hold space for one another and that our babies are forever remembered.
It was not until I experienced my second pregnancy loss that I realised recovering from a miscarriage is such a deeply personal and complex process that requires a lot of time, patience and support.
I believe that there is a gap in our society, and that raising awareness of the impact of a miscarriage is essential to improving support for women experiencing it.
I want to dispel the myth that miscarriage ought to be a secret that stays hidden.
For those who want to convey compassion to someone who has experienced pregnancy loss, Held to Heal also offers care boxes for thoughtful gifting.”

Through the “Held to Heal” platform, God has turned ashes into beauty through the pain for Lydia and he was even able to connect various people to her, like her son’s teacher above. Lydia shared one song “Goodness of God” that deeply ministered to her during the dark days following the loss:
The lyrics of the song and chords are found on Bethel Music website. “Goodness of God” is written by Jenn Johnson, Ed Cash, Jason Ingram, Ben Fielding, and Brian Johnson.
