Operations Team: Chris Wong, David Lim & Raymond Lim

L-R: Chris Wong, David Lim & Raymond Lim

The three gentlemen behind EAST Operations Team consist of alumnus Raymond Lim who graduated with a Master of Divinity in Intercultural Studies (2019), Chris Wong, Zone Pastor of Living Sanctuary Brethren Church, who joined in 2018 and David Lim who had years of experience in the manufacturing sector. All three of them were instrumental in the EAST move from Middle Road EAST Office and Dorset Road EAST Library to Joo Chiat Road campus in 2020. Shifting the library which involved curating, packing, and moving 16,000 books to its present locale was a massive project as there was no lift available at Dorset Road campus then. By God’s grace and with the help of library staff, Mala, and many other unnamed faculty, staff and students back then, the library was safely and successfully relocated. This was amidst the Covid pandemic no less!

Chris Wong, EAST Facility Manager, has a deep passion for missions. He is involved with a mission organization called Touching Young Lives International as a founding member. This organization empowers indigenous church planters and currently has ministries in 9 countries – Pakistan, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand. Typically, Chris makes about three trips a year to visit these ministries. Chris is married with two adult married children, four grandchildren and more to come, Lord willing.

David Lim, EAST Admin Support Executive, came to support EAST at a crucial point when there was a staff crunch. David has since been vital in both supporting EAST library and both admin and logistics. During admin prayer meetings, David’s prayer request without fail is always for God’s shalom peace to be upon him and his family. He is currently worshipping in Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Church with his wife.

Raymond Lim, Admin Executive for Administration at EAST, who has an accounting background first joined EAST as a seminary student and eventually stayed on as staff. Raymond actively serves in Living Sanctuary Brethren Church by co-leading a Chinese cell group. He also has varied interests ranging from Chinese Calligraphy, drawing and painting, music and gym, cycling and fishing, and his favourite fruit is King of the fruits – Mao San Wang durians. He is married with two adult married sons, and two granddaughters.

EAST’s day to day smooth functioning is heavily dependent on Chris, David and Raymond as they look to the requirements of the classrooms and Chapel services. They make sure the building and classrooms are accessible to faculty, staff and students and ensure the security of the premises. Raymond helps out with IT needs when it arises as he is well-versed with computing knowledge. He helps to trouble shoot when EAST is facing wi-fi problems as well, by assisting Cru IT staff.

Life tips to EAST students:

“Read your syllabus carefully and follow exactly as is needed. If you are not sure, ask your lecturer to clarify. If you are weak in your English, ask a senior classmate who is good in English to proofread your assignment for you. To avoid plagiarism, make sure you quote your sources and do your citation properly.” – Raymond Lim

“Just remember that whatever hardships you are facing now, in the end, all will be okay.” – Chris Wong
