For those considering how to navigate sexuality issues in communities of faith. Especially useful for those in positions of influence in religious communities and social organisations.

Seminar Purpose

The seminar looks at some of the challenges that are in the sexuality landscape and see how we can position ourselves for clarity and ride the cross winds to continue to be winsome, relevant and ahead of the winds of change. It also provides a model on providing care for the individual in the context of a church or an organisation by drawing from biblical teachings and engaging scientific and medical studies.

Topics

1. Understanding Same Sex Attraction.
2. What is Affirmation only approach and what is Conversion therapy.
3. Moving beyond the false binary of the above two approaches.
4. Using the BPSS model to provide care.
5. Theological and pastoral care considerations in providing care.

Instructor

Dr Ng Liang Wei (MBBS, MDiv) is the Executive Director at Indigo & Co, an organisation focusing on Sexuality and Gender and concurrently serves as Director of Sexual Wholeness Services with Lakeside Family Services. He was previously pastoring Young Adults and Youths at Mount Carmel BP Church. He is married and blessed with two children.

Dr Ng has served as an incountry Consultant supporting unplanned pregnancies, community health development among under-resourced communities and also served in private healthcare settings in the region. He conducts trainings regularly relating to Faith and Medical aspects in Sexuality and Gender, Navigating Tensions between Religious Faith and Sexuality, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Intergenerational Bible Teaching Methods in various organizational settings.
