Mongolian Student: Taivan & his family have arrived in Singapore!

On 13th October 2021, Taivan and his family finally arrived in Singapore from Mongolia. Taivan and his wife Tungaa are both staff of Mongolia Campus Crusade for Christ, or now known as Cru Mongolia. In fact, Taivan has been the director of Mongolia Young Life ministry for the past ten years. Below is a short interview with Taivan regards to his life and ministry prior to enrolling at EAST for the Master of Arts in Leadership program. The family is currently serving a 10-day quarantine before moving to their new home in Bukit Panjang. Also, Taivan has arrived in Singapore in the thick of the first semester full of assignments to fulfil. Do keep this family who is in transition in your prayers as you read to get to know them better.

  1. Introduce yourself and each of your family members, including your wife and children, sharing something interesting about yourself and each of them.

My name is Taivan Tuya. I was born in Germany, and Mom moved to Mongolia when I was eight months old. I am IT. My wife is Tungalagsaikhan (short name is Tungaa) Tsogbayar. Her major was dentistry in University. She runs a podcast for women. We have three children. My daughter’s name is Enerel, six years old. She likes to paint. Oldest son’s name is Orchlon, four years old. He always shows a funny face when we take a picture. The youngest son’s name is Magtuun, one-year-old.

  1. Introduce what your ministry in MCCC was about before you came to EAST.

After I met Christ, God allowed me to serve high school kids in Young Life Outreach Camp. That was my turning point. God gave me a heart for young people. So, I joined Mongolia Campus Crusade for Christ (MCCC) as a part-time staff in 2004. After I graduated from my college, I became a full-time staff in 2007. From then until 2021, I served in the Young Life ministry. For the last 10 years, I have been the director of Mongolia Young Life ministry.

  1. Share your salvation story and your wife’s salvation story.

I (Taivan) grew up in a Buddhist family. In 2002, I was a freshman in university, one of my best friends invited me to a Campus Ministry meeting. At that time, I heard the Gospel and accepted Christ into my heart.

I ( Tungaa ) have heard about Jesus Christ in 2007 when I was a freshman in university. One of my friends invited me to English Training and I attended an English course taught by the USA Campus team. At that time, I heard the Gospel and accepted Christ into my heart. After I completed my dentistry degree in the Medical University Of Mongolia, I became anMCCC staff in 2010.

  1. What led you to choose EAST to equip yourself further for God’s work? Share your vision for your future ministry after completing your studies at EAST.

We all have our plans, but God’s plan is always better than ours. About three years ago, God called me to study and build myself theologically. After that, my wife, and I started praying for His guidance. In July 2021, I was finally accepted to begin full-time studies at the East Asia School of Theology in Singapore. I hope to do a Master of Arts in Leadership from Mongolia. While waiting for my visa approval, I have been attending classes via zoom. Praise the Lord that just recently, we have been granted permission to fly to Singapore in October. We are so excited.

I believe that when I finish my seminary studies, God will continue to use me abundantly for His kingdom purposes in Mongolia.

Prayer Requests

  1. The last 17 years of the journey have been joyful, sometimes sad and lonely, but always thankful. Looking back, God has led me through a beautiful journey of knowing how deep and wide his love is.
  2. Family transition and quick adjustments for children and the whole family in Singapore
  3. For my study, sound wisdom and understanding.
