EAST Day of Prayer 2018
EAST Day of Prayer (DOP) occurs twice in an academic year. The school pauses for the recent DOP as we seek God’s face in intercessory prayer.
Ms Amy Lau, an EAST faculty and devotional speaker for the DOP, reminded us of the need for a cleansed heart as we approached the throne of grace in reverential worship and faith-filled petition. There was a holy hush as Amy led us in the liturgical prayer of penitence and purity following the Anglican tradition:
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we have sinned against you and against our fellow man in thought and word and deed, through negligence, through weakness, through our own deliberate fault. We are truly sorry and repent of all our sins. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, who died for us, forgive us all that is past and grant that we may serve you in newness of life to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
We then prayed for the nations, the needy, our land and her leaders, our school, and one another. As a community of faith, we are grateful for the privilege of communing with our God as we trust in Him to sovereignly act in response to the prayers of the saints. Shalom.
