Transforming Leadership (LF511, 3 credits)
23 November – 5 December 2015 (9.00 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday)
Leadership is not a job or a position. It is a passion and a calling. A transformational servant-leader is capable of bringing about change in organizations and individuals. This course examines the underlying theology, leadership theory, and skill set of such a leader in today’s world.
Roland Tan, DMin / Nelson Lo, DMin (studies)
Roland has been involved in spiritual leadership and teaching since joining Cru Singapore (formerly Singapore Campus Crusade for Christ) over 40 years ago. For ten years, he led Singapore Campus Crusade as national leader. He and his wife, Ying Kheng, also served cross-culturally in the Philippines, Korea, and Hong Kong.
Nelson was nominated for and received the “President’s Leadership Award” for his outstanding leadership during his MDiv studies at the International Graduate School of Leadership. Since 1991 he has served with Cru in various leadership roles in the campus, marketplace ministry, and church as well as national, regional, and area ministries in Philippines, Singapore, and East Asia. He joined Cru in 1991. He and his wife, Sophie, have two children.
Exposition of Old Testament Wisdom Literature (OT518 or OT518A, 2 credits or 3 credits)
7 – 12 December 2015 (9.00 am to 5.00, Monday to Friday)
“What we need today is not a greater number of intelligent people but wise people.” (These words are adapted from spiritual writer, Richard Foster). Who is the wise person? How do we develop wisdom? This course seeks to understand wisdom in both its ancient setting and canonical context. It offers an introduction to Old Testament wisdom literature which covers Job, parts of the Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs. These books are applicable to our context in Asia today.
