Tuition fees and expenses

Course fees

EAST desires to provide quality theological education for all its students. Tuition charges paid by the students only cover a portion of the actual costs of the education. The school depends on gifts and grants from friends, corporations, churches, and other Christian organizations to provide the balance of the operating costs. All expenses itemized in the table below are estimates for one person (unless noted otherwise) and are subject to change.

Notes:

  1. All fees are rounded to the nearest higher dollar after inclusion of the Singapore Goods and Services Tax (G.S.T.). The current G.S.T. rate is 7%. The below fee structure shall take effect from October 5th, 2009 (2nd Quarter of 2009/10) onwards.
  2. All tuition fees are subject to approximately 5% increment annually to take into account inflation.
  3. This fee will also be used as an advance deposit to offset the new student’s school fees upon registration for classes.
  4. For overseas registered mail, a fee of S$10.00 will be included in addition to the transcript charges.

Drop and add charges

A student has to fill out an Add/Drop Form if he/she wants to add or drop a class or change from credit to audit or vice versa. He/she needs to get the required signatures and submit the form to the Registrar. There is a S$11.00 charge for every change made after the closing dates for registration for each quarter. Students are not required to pay the S$11.00 add/drop fee if the school cancels a given class.

If a student drops a regular class during the first week of school (or before the second day of an intensive class), 100% of the tuition fee for that class is refundable. The charts on the following page show the deadlines, policies and fees for dropping, adding, withdrawing, or changing classes.

Withdrawal

Withdrawal is dropping out of a regular class AFTER the 2nd week of class or after the third day of an intensive (block) class. “W” for withdrawal will appear on a student’s transcript. A “W” does not add to or remove any marks from the grade point average. “W” will be removed when the class is re-taken.

For a student who has not withdrawn by the deadline, whatever grade he/she receives, including “D” (“Poor”) or “F” (“Failure”), will appear on the student’s transcript and will affect the student’s grade point average.

Additional expenses for foreign students

1. Health insurance

All foreign students (and their immediate family members who will be coming to Singapore) are required to have health insurance coverage which will cover their hospitalization expenses in Singapore.
